Installazione site-specific legata alla storia delle miniere e dell'industria siderurgica in Belgio e più in particolare all'ondata di immigrazione italiana del secondo dopoguerra. L'opera si relaziona a due elementi estremamente effimeri e impermanenti.
Da una parte la polvere di ferro e acciaio accumulatasi per un secolo e mezzo nelle fucine, ora abbandonate, di Charleroi: queste particelle sottili e pericolose sono state raccolte, setacciate e depositate sulla scena della performance, a formare un prezioso tappeto di color cangiante, simile a un velluto rosso scuro. Dall’altra si è cercato all’interno della comunità locale italiana cantanti non professionisti che ricordassero le antiche canzoni regionali delle regioni di provenienza, le stesse cantate a fine giornata dagli operai delle miniere e delle acciaierie negli anni '40 e '50. Queste ultime sono state intonate a cappella e registrate su un vinile.

Site-specific installation linked to the history of mining and the steel industry in Belgium, more specifically to the wave of Italian immigration after World War II. The work relates to two extremely ephemeral and impermanent elements.
On the one hand, the iron and steel dust accumulated for a century and a half in the now abandoned forges of Charleroi: these fine and dangerous particles were collected, sifted and deposited on the scene of the performance to form a precious iridescent carpet, similar to a dark red velvet. On the other hand, non-professional singers were sought from within the local Italian community who recalled the old regional songs of their home regions, the same ones sung at the end of the day by mine and steelworkers in the 1940s and 1950s. These were sung a cappella and later recorded on a vinyl.
