Il lavoro, costituito da un’opera site-specific e un video, riflette sugli equilibri tra risorse naturali e attività umane in un’area fortemente antropizzata in Vallecamonica.
L’installazione fonde due processi distanti nel tempo: da un lato il calco in negativo di una roccia, che reca memoria delle acque, dei frammenti di pietra e dei ghiacci che l’hanno levigata nei millenni, dall’altro una traccia audio in cui i microsuoni di un ghiacciaio odierno si fondono coi battiti delle punte di metallo che scavano nella pietra. Il video segue il corso di un torrente, dal ghiacciaio fino a valle, e mostra le tracce della coesistenza tra elementi naturali e attività umane: l’acqua viva del torrente e le captazioni utilizzate per la produzione elettricità e per l’irrigazione; la semina di avannotti e la caccia di frodo ad alta quota. Ambivalenze ulteriormente sottolineate dal fuoricampo, i suoni di moto, camion, di grossi complessi industriali a fondo valle, si diffondono per boschi e prati all’apparenza remoti e selvaggi.

The work, consisting of a site-specific installation and a video, reflects on the balance between natural resources and human activities in a heavily anthropized area in Vallecamonica.
The installation merges two processes that are distant in time: on the one hand, the cast of a rock, which bears the memory of the waters, stone fragments and glaciers that have crafted it over the millennia; on the other, an audio track in which the micro-sounds of a present-day glacier merge with the beats of metal spikes digging into the stone. The video follows the course of a stream, from the glacier down to the valley, and shows the traces of the coexistence of natural elements and human activities: the living water of the stream and the catchments used for electricity production and irrigation; the sowing of fry and poaching at high altitudes. These ambivalences are further emphasised by the off-screen, sounds of motorbikes, trucks, of large industrial complexes at the bottom of the valley, spread through seemingly remote and wild woods and meadows.
